Sam's Life the Place to Be Bar Mitzvah photos!

Hands down one of the best places for a Bar Mitzvah is https://lifetheplacetobe.com/

I mean how can you go wrong with a cocktail hour in an arcade? I've never been to a party here that I didn't love.  The space is huge which isn't great for bouncing light but is great for big parties, lots of movement and seeking out the best shots. check out their facebook page for more: https://www.facebook.com/Life.ThePlaceToBe

Pro tip: Make sure you have an off camera flash kit for shooting in large, high ceiling venues. A lot of photographers struggle when they can't bounce light but learning to master ocf is an invaluable investment! Here are some good places to get started:

Sam's Bar Mitzvah at Community Synagogue of Rye!

Gotta love any family that asks if I can come to their house before service at https://www.comsynrye.org/to take photos with their dog. The answer to that is always yes, yes, yes!!!

Sam's Bar Mitzvah was one of my last big jobs before covid. These photos were taken on March 7, 2020 (they really lucked out with the weather). It was the first event that required we sanitize our hands before entering the building...early warning signs of what was about to come. But we were still naive then and had a blast that night!!! Party photos from https://lifetheplacetobe.com/ coming soon.

Pro tip: Get one of the dogs favorite toys to hold while you're shooting otherwise the dog will not care about you or what you're trying to do! Also make sure to instruct the the humans to continue to loo k at the camera. Most times the people will get caught up directing the dog and forget they're in the shot too.
